Overview of Oral Steroids
Oral steroids (commonly known as “orals”) are orally (by mouth) consumed medicines which contain man-made versions of naturally appearing steroids.
Whilst there is a large variety of steroidal medicines, medicines listed under the Bodypharm.com “Oral Steroids” category are specifically fixed on the anabolic part of orally consumable steroids.
Anabolic steroids, more properly known as anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) or androgens mostly contain natural occurring testosterone and/or any synthetical equivalent of natural testosterone, for example: oxymetholone (Anapolon) and Mesterolone (Proviron), and is one of the 3 types of sex hormone agonists, the other 2 types being estrogens (f.e. estradiol) and progestogens (f.e. progesterone). There are four common forms in which AAS are administered: oral pills, injectable steroids, creams/gels for topical application and skin patches. Oral administration is the most convenient due to the rapid absorption rate of testosterone by this method.
The use of anabolic steroids has been proven very successful during therapeutic treatments which aim to stimulate lean muscle-growth and appetite. While testosterone hormone levels are increased during anabolic treatment, use of androgens may result in an increase of body weight and a possibly stimulate body/facial hair growth.
Androgenic medicines are mainly praised by the athletic and bodybuilding community due to their physical enhancing properties including the increase of muscle-growth and fat-burning effects.
